The forest covers a large area and is one of the most beautiful in France.
It is crossed by some pleasant roads which go in all directions. Picnic-tables have been erected for visitors near the Hermitière Springs and the Coudre Fountain.
The lovely beech and oak groves are worth seeing; in particular Boppe, a oak-tree several hundred years old.
